What is a Solar Return?

Once each year your Sun returns to the exact position where it was located in your birth chart. This usually happens within one day on either side of your birthday. Your solar return is a chart drawn up for the exact hour and minute this occurs and describes the energies for that year. Your Solar Return sun sign is always the same as your natal sun sign. Unlike your natal chart, your solar return is usually located according to your current primary residence. I say that it is usually, because there are three schools of thought on this. Some astrologers believe that you should always base the solar return on the latitude and longitude of your birth and will calculate it that way.
