Parallels of Declination
I want to make you familiar with parallels of declination. If they exist in a chart they work somewhat like a conjunction which is like conjoined power. Parallels do not manifest the energy as overtly as a regular conjunction.
As with minor aspects, the orb is usually held at 1
. Practice working with parallels after you have become thoroughly familiar with integrating regular aspects into the chart. Again, this is another one of those factors that some astrologers consider and others ignore.
A parallel exists when two planets are in the same declination either north or south of the equator within a 1
orb. A contra-parallel works somewhat like an opposition. A contra-parallel exists when one planet is north by declination and the other planet is south by declination and within a 1
orb of each other. Since this is designed to be a simplified resource, I am leaving out the detailed explanations for now about how and why declinations exist. The Rosicrucian Ephemeris includes a section on each page devoted entirely to current declinations of each planet. It's easier to study the example than to give lengthy explanations. A sample page of declinations might show the following information for a given birth date:
The symbol for a parallel is
(south/south or north/north)
Works somewhat like a conjunction.
The symbol for a contra-parallel is(north/south or south/north) Works somewhat like an opposition.

Note that the Sun and Mars are parallel.
They both are south by declination and within 1from each other.
Also parallel are, Saturn/Neptune and Uranus/Pluto.
Note that Mercury and Uranus are contra-parallel.Mercury is south and Uranus is north by declination and within the 1
orb. Also contra-parallel are, Mercury/Pluto.
