Introduction

                   Nature Appreciation Report

This report is designed to help you learn more about your own, inner nature; to appreciate nature around you; and to know what you can do to protect the environment in the best way possible, given your uniqueness as an individual.

In this report, your planets in the signs indicate your inner nature and the natural species and phenomena with which you, as an individual, have an affinity. Your planets in the houses indicate the activities which you would enjoy, pertaining to nature. Your planetary aspects indicate the environmental causes where you would have a particular talent, and where you could express yourself in a positive way towards helping to preserve nature.

Chapter 1: The Sun

Sun in Aries:

You are very energetic and self-aware, and you strive to be first in any competition. Creatures in nature, particularly, animals have to compete and think of themselves first too, in order to survive. They must fight for territory, for a mate, and for food. They must also  fight off predators. You have an innate understanding of this concept of "survival of the fittest". You understand that humans also have a physical, animal side and that they are part of nature.

Traditionally, the sign "Aries" corresponds to the ram, or male sheep, and is associated with the idea of using the head or horns to strike with great force, in order to win a fight. You are certainly very direct in your approach, and you seek to be the best. Other creatures in nature besides the ram have their own way of exhibiting the desire to be first, such as the male redwing blackbirds being the first to arrive in the marsh in the spring, or the robin being the first bird to be seen in the spring and the first one to sing each morning. However, you would probably be most interested in mammals, and how they become adept at physical competition.

Sun in the 9th House

You like to get out in nature for the adventure of it, perhaps even while horseback riding. You would enjoy traveling to faraway natural and spiritual sites around the globe. You would be good at leading such a venture yourself, and combining it with teachings of man's religious and spiritual connections with nature. You would be good at promoting a cross-country nature trail, such as could be made out of an abandoned railway line. You might enjoy birdwatching, because it is a way of "hunting" which does not harm the birds, but still involves going out and seeing how many species you can find.

Sun Square Moon:

Once you have achieved harmony within yourself, you will be able to do a lot to further the cause of harmony with nature. Because your parents would have been very different, or separate from one another, you will first find that you need to struggle to understand your relationship with nature's creatures. You need to find a balance between having self-confidence without dominating nature on one hand, and not being so nurturing that you forget about your own needs on the other. However, once you have worked this through, you will be in an unusually good position to understand how man can help nature without interfering with it further. Once healed from your own childhood challenges, you will especially value the contribution which children can make to the future of the planet.

Sun Trine Mars:

You are fortunate to have been born with a strong constitution, vitality, and physical strength. Do not take these advantages for granted, because the world needs your talent, and you feel more fulfilled if you keep active and attain positive goals. You would be good at leading children on outdoor hiking expeditions and this would be very valuable work, as well as great fun. You could build solar energy panels and sell them, or organize a physically active tree-planting project.

Sun Trine Saturn:

You may live in a place where there are large, old trees, and they would provide you with an instant reminder that you can live a long life yourself. You see opportunities to help preserve the planet, and you would find it very fulfilling to pursue them. You could become recognized for your work with Arctic species. You probably like to have cats, and you would be good at looking after them. You would have a talent for cold-climate gardening, because you see the most efficient ways to use the available light.

Sun Opposition Neptune:

You would do well to live in a pure, quiet, natural environment, in which your sensitive receptivity could tune in to the connectedness of all living things, rather than the negative, fragmented impressions which one picks up in a city. You would then be much happier emotionally, and able to express constructive, creative ability as a nature artist, musician or photographer. Try to seek out people who are nurturing and in tune with themselves, and avoid those who have addictions or identity problems.

Sun Trine Pluto:

You have a rare talent for leading others through even the most drastic of circumstances and emerging victorious. In fact, you need to have an intense, positive outlet in order to feel fulfilled. Get involved in a project to save the planet, such as recycling, solar power, or stopping global warming. The world needs your positive vision of a healthy, regenerated planet. Help children become educated about what they can do to save the planet too. In addition, you might be able to produce artwork which would have a very strong impact on people about the need to protect life.

Chapter 2: The Moon

Moon in Capricorn:

You tend to be emotionally cautious and austere, and are likely to select a sparse, cold living environment, like the mountain goats which live up in the snow-capped peaks and have to watch every step on the narrow edges. Just as the mountain-goats learn to be good climbers to survive, you work hard to achieve status and respect for your family. You would be very good at surviving in a wilderness environment, using what little resources and food there would be to live on, because you would approach the situation rationally. By having advance preparations and not giving in to the emotions.

Moon in the 5th House

You are good at looking after children and turning their discovery of nature into fun and recreation. Because you would set a good example by nurturing children, they, in turn would learn to care about nature's creatures. For example, they could learn about how to look after a pet, such as dog or a cat. You might enjoy being a teacher, camp counselor, or children's drama teacher, and you could work an appreciation of nature into your teachings.

Moon Conjunct Jupiter:

You would be concerned about fund-raising for the care of the earth, and you would inspire others to donate by your caring, positive attitude. You could be successful at publishing books and articles on composting, the care of animals and plants, and the food requirements of migrating birds. You could inspire young children to take an interest in planting seeds and caring for their own vegetable and native flowers.

Chapter 3: Mercury

Mercury in Pisces:

Your method of learning new things is more by osmosis than by logical study, and your method of expression is more likely to be poetry or song than spoken prose. You have a vivid imagination and telepathic ability.

Nature's creatures, be they mammals other than man, or birds, fish, or insects, all rely on the receptivity of their senses to tell them where there is food, whether they are in danger, and where to find others of their own kind. You may, therefore, have a better ability to communicate with natures' creatures than most people. You would also have a good understanding of why birds sing so beautifully, to express their joy at the summer sunshine, for example. You may be good at doing impressions, like the starlings which can mimic the sounds of other birds, or the parrots which can even imitate human voices.

Mercury in the 8th House

You would be interested in studying the ultimate effects on the planet of unsound environmental practices, and you would have the courage to speak up about these matters. In particular, you could work to save endangered species. You like to research the underlying causes of things and solve mysteries, such as what the cause is of a particular type of pollution, or what would prevent floods.

Mercury Square Uranus:

If you studied long enough and kept trying new things, you could come up with unique discoveries in either astrology or astronomy. You like to explore, advanced areas of science, particularly in relation to how objective, empirical observations coincide with intuitive insights. You could benefit by exploring how mind and body work together, and then you would see new links between heaven and earth, or nature and divine purpose.

Chapter 4: Venus

Venus in Taurus:

You are loyal and enduring in relationships, and you seek to establish a permanent home. You feel a kinship with nature, and you like to be surrounded by the beauty of forests, flowers, and scenery. You are very likely to have an attractive garden, beautifully landscaped, in front of a well-maintained large older home with classical architecture.

Great blue herons build nests at the top of trees, and they come back and use the same nest each year for many years. The nests are constructed of sticks and are about three feet wide, and the herons keep them in good repair rather then have to build a new nest.

Venus in the 10th House

You are interested in land conservation, and would be good at obtaining government funds for this goal. You are very logical, rational, and trustworthy, and you could work in a government position to preserve the land, farms, and trees. As a nature artist, you could have a successful career, and you would, in any case, be able to convince others to give nature appreciation the status it deserves.

Chapter 5: Mars

Mars in Leo:

You are very self- confident, and you assume that your natural position is that of the leader. In nature, the queen of the ant colony does not have to attend to anything other than egg-laying, and the worker ants feed her.

You are able to use the fiery power of the sun to get others to submit to your authority. There are small ants called "fire ants", which bite their prey, and if the bites are exposed to sunlight, the power of their sting becomes even more potent. Similarly, the effect of poisonous plants such as wild parsnip and poison ivy are intensified in their effect on humans by exposure to sunlight, causing what is called "phytophotodermatitis".

Mars in the 1st House

You like to initiate things and you have good physical stamina. You might like to start your own business of leading others on nature hikes, kayaking, or canoe trips. You could clear a new nature trail. You would also be good at working with animals, either building kennels for them, getting them out to exercise or fighting to preserve their natural habitat.

Mars Conjunct Saturn:

You would be good at enforcing laws to protect animals, such as by being a game warden or worker for a group to prevent cruelty to animals. You might undertake serious work to prevent forest fires. You might work in the area of protecting people and animals from toxic metals.

Mars Sextile Uranus:

You would work hard to come up with new, unique solutions to environmental problems, such as safe ways to produce electricity, without causing pollution. You are very interested in the study of birds in flight, and you could make new discoveries in this area. Your rebellious energy would be good for shaking up the status quo and getting people to make changes and take action to protect the environment. You would do well to use your opportunities to help the cause of animals.

Mars Conjunct Pluto:

You are able to take direct action in leading a massive recycling project, such as recycling metals. You need to keep physically active and to know that you are making a real difference. You could head a battle against global warming, atomic destruction, pollution from garbage and sewage, or some other life-or-death challenge. You could get out and do physical work to prevent the land from flooding, or you could rescue people from the threat of a flood or earthquake.

Chapter 6: Jupiter

Jupiter in Sagittarius:

You benefit from travel to faraway lands, and you are able to adapt to new environments very readily, because of your very positive philosophy. You are good at teaching others to be cheerful, no matter what the circumstances.

There are many birds, wildflowers, and insects which have benefitted by following human migrations, for example, from Europe to North America. One such species is the house sparrow which was first introduced in New York from England in 1850, to control insect pests. However, these birds multiplied very rapidly, because they were able to get plenty of grain, which was used for horse-feed. By 1900, they were the most common bird in North America, but their population stabilized once the automobile was introduced, because then there were fewer horses. However, these birds sing and cheer people up, even in the cold of winter.

Jupiter in the 5th House

You have a great deal of positive energy, and you would be very good with children. You would teach them the right values about appreciating nature and you would make it fun for them. You could raise funds for a children's nature camp, and have religious teachings combined with it. You would enjoy leading the children in art, hiking, and other outdoor activities. You would teach your own children well, and they would be likely to go far in their education and in inspiring others.

Chapter 7: Saturn

Saturn in Leo:

Because you may have lacked recognition of your ego-needs when you were young, you have a need to reach the top, where people will notice you. You strive hard to be the best, and you may tend to be harsh with others who are a threat to your place in the sun.

In nature, various species are affected by a lack of sun and warmth, if it is a year when there are not enough summer days. For example, not as many butterflies or flowers would be seen at the time of year when they are expected. However, they just take longer to emerge and they may live longer, once they appear.

Saturn in the 1st House

You would work hard to provide for animals, and would seek to be recognized for giving them a new start, so that they can survive. You would be willing to go out and enforce conservation laws, and you would be straightforward and unemotional in dealing with any violators. You might wish to work for the canine control, for example, to protect people and small dogs from any large dogs on the loose.

Saturn Sextile Neptune:

You would do well as a nature artist, because you have imagination, a sense of beauty and form, and the required self-discipline. You could help small animals, because you are both sympathetic to them and practical as to their needs. You would do well to take advantage of your opportunities to see that the laws are enforced which prevent the use of pesticides and other harmful chemicals.

Saturn Conjunct Pluto:

You could become involved in far-reaching conservation and  restoration projects. You could enforce laws to restrict atomic power and lessen global-warming, as you would strongly believe in erring on the side of caution to prevent destruction. You could help to prevent housing developments from causing flooding or water contamination, by making sure that watersheds and creeks are kept free of development. You could work to save threatened species from extinction.

Chapter 8: Uranus

Uranus in Gemini:

You appreciate the importance of group consciousness in promoting new ways of thinking. You are interested in scientific inventions and political reforms, particularly if they are based on a superior, intellectual grasp of the situation. You are willing to use discussion and the communication of ideas to arrive at new solutions. You are restless and need change and freedom to move.

Your mental agility can be compared, on the physical level to the freedom of movement of squirrels. They can hang upside down, walk along wires, run fast, and jump from one place to another.

Uranus in the 11th House

You would be interested in using astrology to get people tuned in to nature, and you might like to use a computer or telephone for this. You like new unusual activities such as studying rare birds or coming up with brand new inventions. You might join a group interested in self-sufficient living, such as having your own organic gardens and environmentally safe energy production. You could help bring about radical political changes, if outdated attitudes are standing in the way of progress in saving the environment.

Chapter 9: Neptune

Neptune in Libra:

You were born at a time when new partnerships were being formed to protect the lakes and rivers. There was an interest in keeping waters and shorelines beautiful, and legislation was passed to protect them. Rather than view nature in terms of adversaries, the relationship between predators and prey was now seen as a mutual interdependence.

Neptune in the 3rd House

You would enjoy going out to a quiet lake, observing the different species and then reading about them. You might have an interest in the secret teachings of animals and birds; that is what they communicate to those who really listen. You could then pass on this knowledge to others who would appreciate it. You might mediate on nature in the city, and then work to ensure the preservation of green space. You would teach others to value it, based in your own experiences.

Neptune Sextile Pluto:

You live at a time when people have profound compassion for nature, and they work very hard to protect it. There is likely to be nature art which has a strong spiritual message. There would be efforts to restore the aquatic environment, for fish and other marine species.

Chapter 10: Pluto

Pluto in Leo:

You were born at a time when the possibility first existed of the world being destroyed by nuclear energy. As a result, there were great efforts to maintain peace between the super-powers of the world. These efforts were the beginning of the concept of one, world government. If this government were based on spiritual, rather than material, values, it could unite the world in saving the environment from human destruction. There have already been certain strategic, natural areas declared globally significant, such as bird migration stopover locations, which are to be maintained permanently as natural, wildlife habitat.

Pluto in the 1st House

You have the assertiveness and willpower to fight for environmental causes which others are afraid to touch. You would be willing to take action regarding pollution, garbage, sewage, or atomic power. You would work hard to restore and regenerate the environment. You might take up the cause of fighting for endangered species.
